Gift idea - bath salts

Great gift Idea

For Christmas this year I gave my friends the gift of relaxation. I know that the holidays are very stressful so I thought I would give them something to help. I made homemade bathsalts with essential oils in them. I made two groups, one for sore muscles and one for relaxation. I had such good feed back that people started to ask me more about it.

I put them in little zip-lock bags and then made a cute label on them with ingredients (just in case someone was allergic to salt - wink) and how to use. I printed them out on the computer.
It was a very easy and inexpensive gift.

Here is the recipe:

Effective, Easy, and Fun Essential Oil Bath Salts

2 Cups Baking Soda

1 Cup Sea Salt

3 Cups Epsom Salt

(All above ingredients can be found at your local grocery store)

DoTerra Essential Oils

In a large mixing bowl add all of the above ingredients with the exception of the essential oil(s). Mix with your hand or a large spoon. After all of the ingredients are well mixed begin to add essential oils until the desired scent is achieved. The best way to determine if enough oils have been added is simply by using your own judgment. Bath salts should be strongly scented so fewer salts will be required for each bath, which will enable them to last longer. (Usually 12 drops of a high quality essential oil would be enough to scent the entire recipe above.)

Bath salts are inexpensive, easy and fun to make. But, they are also fun to use. Bath salts are perfect to make for you or to give as a gift to friends and family. After a long day at work, taking care of the family or running errands, there is nothing like a luxurious bath to wash away your cares and all of the stress deriving from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Bath salts contain soothing scents and comfort that will leave you feeling refreshed and full of life.

Important Note: Some bath products, which are found in the marketplace, may contain harsh ingredients that could irritate the skin. However, by purchasing bath salts ingredients carefully and making them yourself, you will have the peace of mind in knowing that your bath salts are perfectly safe to use.

Happy Feet soak

Soak feet in warm water with 5-10 drops lavender and melaleuca for 10 minutes.
Massage warm, moist feet with dōTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil and essential oils of your choice.

Happy Hair Blend (for a great scalp and hair treatment)

Happy Hair Blend (for a great scalp and hair treatment)

Warm ¼ Cup dōTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil
Add 2-5 drops lavender
Add 2-5 drops rosemary

Massage into hair and scalp, wrap in towel or plastic for 10 minutes. Shampoo and rinse.
Essential oils can also be added to shampoo or conditioner. Oils to consider are lavender, rosemary, geranium, and peppermint. Peppermint spritzed on the scalp is especially refreshing on hot summer days.

Thighs anti dimples - increased circulation

I Love My Thighs Application (anti-dimples, anyone? :)

Pour dōTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil in palm of hand (approximately ½ Tablespoon).
Add 3-5 drops citrus oils: lemon and grapefruit, Wild Orange and cypress, or combination of your own creation.

After showering or bathing, pat dry. While thighs are still hydrated and warm from shower or bath, smooth on oil blend. It may take two applications per thigh. Smooth upward toward groin.

Citrus oils are pressed from the rind and are excellent for improving circulation and lymph flow, and for helping rid the body of excess fluid.

Blissful Bath (for a sensational soak in the tub!)

Fill tub with hot water.

In container put 2-4 cups baking soda and
2-4 cups dōTERRA Bath Salts, Epsom salt, or other salts
Add 5-10 drops dōTERRA essential oil(s) of choice to salts

Pour mixture into tub.
Slide in and relax, breathing deeply to enjoy the calming vapors
Soak for 20-30 minutes.

Some oils to consider: lavender, geranium, Citrus Bliss, Elevation, Serenity, ylang ylang, frankincense, myrrh, sandalwood, grapefruit, lemongrass, peppermint, Wild Orange, Aroma Touch, and Balance. Whisper and clary sage are especially helpful for relief of monthly discomfort.

Note: there may be oils that are too hot or strong for sensitive areas. Avoid these oils or use in very small amounts.

Meditation Blend

Meditation Blend (for ultimate relaxation)
3 drops frankincense
1 drop myrrh
1 drop sandalwood
1 drop cinnamon bark

Meditation Blend can be modified according to personal preference. The more drops of oil in the diffuser, the stronger the aroma.

Sassy waster recipe for the flat belly diet

I'm not sure I'm believe in the flat belly diet but here is a recipe for the water that was posted on the doTERRA company blog site.

There has been a lot of buzz about the new Flat Belly diet and its key ingredient to the 4-Day Anti-Bloat Jumpstart, the Sassy Water. The recipe claims to help you get rid of the pooch, and let's face it, we'd all love to have a flatter belly!

According to Prevention magazine, "the ingredients aren't just for flavor: The ginger also helps calm and soothe your GI tract. Even more important: The simple act of making this Sassy Water every day will serve as a reminder during the 4-Day Jumpstart that life is a little bit different, that things are going to change. It will help you focus on the task ahead: Getting a flatter belly once and for all."
After learning about this recipe on the Today show, Lil Shepherd (Founders' Club Member) decided to revise the recipe using dōTERRA's CPTG essential oils. Try it out and let us know what you think!

Sassy Oil Water Recipe
dōTERRA Ginger essential oil (2-3 drops)
dōTERRA Peppermint essential oil (2-3 drops)
dōTERRA Lemon essential oil (2-3 drops)
Add dōTERRA essential oils to 2 quarts of water and drink as part of your weight management plan.

Geranium soothing body scrub

Found this on the company's main doTERRA blog:

The sweet, pungent scent of Geranium essential oil is ideal for relieving tension and anxiety.

Try this soothing body scrub with Geranium essential oil, and let us know if Geranium is now your favorite oil for relaxation! (Vote on our blog poll and let your voice be heard.)

Geranium Soothing Body Scrub

2 cups dōTERRA Spa Therapy Bath Salts (or make your own)
3 Tbsp. dōTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil
5 drops dōTERRA Geranium essential oil

Mix all ingredients together in a cute bowl and stir together (emphasis on the cute bowl--trust me, you'll feel more luxurious soaking in your tub if you have a cute bowl sitting on the side of your tub.)

This is a FABULOUS, rejuvenating body polish that relieves tension, exfoliates, softens the skin, and helps speed up the reproduction of skin cells.

Pick-me-up body spray with essential oils

Found this on the company's main doTERRA blog:

Need a little pick-me-up? This body spray recipe (originally featured in Body + Soul magazine) is sure to chase the blahs away and help balance your mood.

dōTERRA's CPTG essential oils allow you to surround yourself with nature's subtle fragrances throughout the day. Use this mist on your hair, skin, or home/office environment.

Ingredients:

To Make the Spray:

1. Fill a clean, dry mini spray bottle with 4 ounces of pure distilled water.

2. Using a dropper, carefully put the selected blend of essential oils directly into the spray bottle.

3. Tightly close the bottle and shake vigorously to combine. Be sure to shake it before each use, as the water and essential oils tend to separate.
